​My career spans nearly three decades across some of the most communication-intensive industries in the world: aerospace engineering, commercial litigation, intellectual property law, patent analysis, non-profits, and property and casualty insurance. I’ve examined more than 1,200 PCT patent applications across 15+ technology sectors, trained at an AmLaw 200 law firm, worked in the U.S. for over 20 years, and have traveled internationally through six countries.

 

That background is what makes TLE different. When I teach legal English, I’m drawing on real experience with contracts, technical drawings, and patent documentation — not invented classroom examples. When I teach technical communication, I know what a non-technical executive needs to understand, because I’ve had to explain it myself.

Most Business English instructors teach from textbooks. I teach from nearly 30 years of real experience — in patent search firms, law firms, aerospace companies, non-profits, as well as small business ownership.

 

That means when we work on legal English, we use real documents. When we practice technical communication, we tackle the kinds of challenges you actually face at work. And when we focus on presentations or negotiations, the scenarios are drawn from industries I know firsthand.
